Suroy na ta sa Barili!
At Barili’s Green Mountain Resort…☺
Yes, I did not expect that I would find such wonderful place in one of the upland barangay in the southern town of Barili. It was really a surprise for us… we were staying at Palalong and the kind owners told us they have another place in case we are interested. And yes, since we did not have a tight schedule, we woke up early and head to this place.
It has a pool fed by a natural spring, there is a garden and an aviary as well.

We were on the last of the 3-day adventure trip in Tabuelan and from Brgy. Bongon we head down to a hot, sweaty trick to find one of the town’s precious water resource.
Before, far-flung barangays which can’t be reached by the water system has to get all their water needs from natural springs. On drought season, many people still turn to these springs.
It was very rewarding to find the cold water soothe through my aching feet. I was actually tempted to swim but there are at least two more springs to visit and so we contend ourselves with the cold water while trying to hide from the sun under the shade of the tree. We talked about where the spring empties… our guide says we can walk through the banks down a river but the trek would be difficult and there is no way we could keep ourselves dry.
We chanced upon a few people doing laundry while some taking a dip. I love the countryside. Growing up in the city, I didn’t had the chance to enjoy nature at its best. That day, when I went home and in the comfort of my room…I closed my eyes and remembered the cold water on my feet, the birds singing and the sweet air in my lungs. Wish I could bring everything home…☺
This is a man-made waterway built during the Spanish era in the northern town of Medellin. Those people who were not able to secure their cedula are made to work here. This ambitious waterway was built to create another water route that would hasten transportation.
This artificial canal is about 1.5 kilometers long and to date, Dayhagon Canal has been a favorite place for locals to wash their clothes or take a bath. Apart from that, the municipality of Medellin has also promoted the site as a good venue for kayaking.
Down south in Oslob, I had the chance to feast on Cebuanos’ typical lunch especially when they have visitors—mais and kinamunggayang bisayang manok (cooked corn grits and native chicken with malunggay).
Burp!
”People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering.” -St. Augustine, 354 430
Taken years ago while I was trying to find a signal near the port of Pilar. It was around the end of the year in 2009 when I braved the Camotes Sea and exiled myself for 9 days. Bored, I looked up and stared at the sky till these birds came in the frame. It took me some time to find this photo again.
As i was going through photos in search for exhibit materials, i found these photos stashed in the 2011 folder. I remembered that this was one of the many memorable on-the-job experience I had. For years, the people in this barangay who wants to cross the other side could not because there was no bridge.
Finally, no more detours as people can now comfortably cross from the other side through the Balidbid Bridge. (Sta Fe, March 2011)
Happy anniversary my dear Province of Cebu!☺ Holiday this August 6!
How fast the years passed…the first time I joined in the celebration was four years ago during the 440th anniversary. And as each year unfolds, the capitol looked more & more beautiful as well as its people. It is Gov. Gwen Garcia’s last term and the last time that she’ll be declaring the opening ceremony.
Will surely miss this.
