It’s been five years.☺
Picturesque Rio, view from Loaf Mountain.☺
I would love to keep the tarp (the first design that they had)… LOL! Was surprise to see my photos on it. There is a new one but will post it the next time. By the way, just before you enter the museum, two cannons will welcome you. No, of course not. It doesn’t fire at guests. These Chinese-inspired cannons are my personal favorite.♥ I was amazed when I found out that there are duckies (aside from the dragons) embossed on it.
It is Heritage Month and one way of celebrating it is to visit the great museums of Cebu. And of course, first on the list is Museo Sugbo.
Who would thought that an old building where hardened criminals once stroll along its corridors and convicts used to gather in its spacious square will now host some of Cebu’s most valuable historical possessions?
Museo Sugbo, Cebu’s provincial museum, was once the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC), home of the famous dancing inmates. This old building is located along M. J. Cuenco Ave., a part of an old Spanish-era district in Cebu City.
Before it became CPDRC, it was called Carcel de Cebu. Designed by Dominggo de Escondrillas in 1869, this was built to be the main prison for the Visayas District similar to that of Bilibid prison in the capital.
On our last night in Santiago, we were ushered into the Chilean night life and their national drink, piscos sour, is on my list alongside a seafood platter!
Santiago, Chile. December 2011.☺
